Aspire Leadership Conference

A Unique Opportunity to Challenge Yourself and Explore Your Leadership Potential

Aspire is a student leadership conference designed to provide secondary school students with the skills and expertise they need to gain work related experience and build their portfolios and resumes throughout high school.

The Aspire Leadership Conference is unique as it is organized by a group of high school students, called the Conference Cabinet, who work throughout the school year to develop an outstanding conference that truly addresses the issues young student leaders are facing. The planning is done entirely by students with the support of faculty advisors and senior students from Corpus Christi College at UBC.

Sessions attended during the conference address lingering questions about how to maximize on students' high school experience and get involved in events and activities while maintaining good grades. Questions about leadership, developing strengths and making the most of opportunities are answered.

Students may choose to participate either as a Cabinet Member or delegate. No previous conference experience is required.

Becoming a Delegate

This conference is open to all secondary school students in British Columbia and beyond that are interested in developing their leadership skills. Students actively involved in their student councils and sports teams are welcome, as are those students seeking new opportunities to develop leadership skills. Active involvement in your student council is not a requirement. Students involved in clubs and youth groups outside their schools will benefit from this leadership conference as well.

Rates are set annually by the Corpus Christi College Board of Governors.

Becoming a Planner

This is a great opportunity for students to improve their leadership abilities and develop transferable employability skills which will assist them in portfolio and resume development. This conference is organized, developed and run entirely by students with the support of experienced faculty and advisors.

Student Commitment: Cabinet members will have an introductory meeting in the Fall and will arrange at that time for an additional 5-8 planning meetings to be held before the conference date. Meeting space will be provided by Corpus Christi College on the UBC Campus. As a group, students will assign the responsibility for conference planning activities at this first meeting. One of the unique aspects of this conference is that it is student developed. The Cabinet will make executive decisions regarding content, promotions and conference schedule. It is a leadership opportunity like no other!

Last year’s cabinet included students from York House, University Hill Secondary, Burnaby Mountain, Churchill Secondary, Kitsilano Secondary, St. Thomas More, and Vancouver College.
