Running StartThe Corpus Christi College Running Start is designed to provide post-secondary opportunities for students looking for new challenges as a result of enrichment or accelerated programming. Running Start students receive university credit prior to high school graduation and benefit from a gradual transition to university through early exposure to university-level academic work and through interaction with university-level instructors & students. Running Start students also have the opportunity to meet students from other schools who have similar interests and abilities. Please note: Admission to a Corpus Christi College Running Start course does not imply admission to the Corpus Christi College Liberal Arts Diploma Program. Corpus Christi College Running Start 2008-2009CLST 102 Roman CivilizationAn introduction to the history, archaeology, literature and philosophy of ancient Rome, paying particular attention to the Late Republican and Early Imperial periods. This course will address a variety of themes pertinent to the period, including Roman social, political and religious structures and values; art and architecture; and the impact of developments in literary and philosophical thought. Pre-requisites: none. ENGL 100 Introduction to University WritingEnglish 100 introduces students to the principles of university-level discourse, focusing on expository and persuasive writing. Upon conclusion of the course, students will be capable of summarizing, analysing, and producing university-level academic writing. Pre-requisite: Credit for English 12 (min. 80%) or permission of instructor. FREN 123 French Language and Literature IFrench 123 provides a comprehensive review of French grammar and an introduction to contemporary literature written in French, with emphasis on essay writing and textual analysis. Pre-requisite: French 12 or equivalent. FREN 124 French Language and Literature IIFrench 124 provides a comprehensive review of French grammar and an introduction to contemporary literature written in French, with emphasis on essay writing and textual analysis. Pre-requisite: CCC French 123 or permission of instructor. MATH 204 Differential CalculusStudy of derivatives and rates of exchange, exponential and trigonometric functions, Newton’s method, Taylor series, maxima and minima, and graphing. Pre-requisite: Principles of Math 12. |
